Local ranchers across Western Pennsylvania work endless hours — only to have their livelihood dictated by a commodity market controlled by a handful of corporate entities, some not even American-owned. Meanwhile, most "premium" beef products on store shelves run through that exact same supply chain, just with a different label on the box. And those trendy beef delivery companies? Same story — different packaging, same corporate middlemen.
We've lost the connection to our land, our food, and the people who raise it. I started Local Beef Company Pittsburgh to bring that back.
This isn't just about better beef — though you'll taste the difference immediately. It's about building a decentralized, local food system with real redundancy. When your community has many local suppliers held to a local standard, you get consistency, security, and something the commodity market can never offer: a direct relationship with the people raising your food.
